Marina Fumo

Architect, PhD, Professor at the Department of Civil, Architectural and Environmental Engineering of the University of Naples Federico II; Director of the CITTAM (Interdepartmental Research Center on Traditional Techniques in Mediterranean Area) of UniNA, member of the Doctoral Boards in "Technologies for Recovery and Technological Innovation", "Construction Engineering", "History and Technology of Architecture" and currently of the PhD College of DICEA "Engineering of urban and environmental systems". She is also a member of ICOMOS (delegate in ICOFORT Italy), of Do.co.Mo.Mo International, of Association of Women and Science UniNA and several cultural national associations.

She carries out applied research in the field of Building Engineering and Architecture, being the author of more than 300 monographies, papers published in conference proceedings, chapters in scientific books, paper in scientific journal, exposition catalogues. From 1993 until today, she also tutored over 300 dissertations in Building Engineering/Architecture and PhD theses, receiving in 2017 the "Borgo Albori" Special Award for her way of teaching.

Antonella Violano

Architect, PhD Europeus, Associate Professor in Technology of Architecture at the Department of Architecture and Industrial Design of the Università della Campania “L. Vanvitelli”; Director of the Quality Centre of the Università della Campania "L. Vanvitelli", Coordinator of “Carbon Neutral Building” (CNB) Research Group. President and Research and Development Director of the innovative start-up DReAM-IT srl. 

She carries out applied research in the field of technological innovation for the natural and built environment, with a focus on environmental design, nature-based materials, energy-efficient building technology design (CNB) and Quality Management Systems (ISO 9001), Environment (ISO 14001) and Energy (ISO 50001). Teacher in Professional Training, E-learning Courses, PhD and Masters, she is the author of more than 180 publications about scientific and technical topics concerning with her research fields.

Alex Martínez-Suárez

Alex Martínez-Suárez is a Dominican architect, researcher, and curator. He holds an Advanced Master’s in Architecture from the Berlage Institute in the Netherlands and a postgraduate degree in Museum Studies from Harvard University in the United States. He’s the general coordinator and exhibition designer at the Fernando Peña Defilló Museum in Santo Domingo, as well as the director of Archipiélago, a multidisciplinary platform engaged in architecture, academic and cultural projects. 

Martínez has taught at Harvard University, at the Instituto Tecnológico de Monterrey (Mexico), and currently holds a professorship at Universidad Iberoamericana UNIBE (Dominican Republic). He has also served as guest faculty at the Universidad Piloto de Colombia in Bogotá, the Pontificia Universidad Católica de Puerto Rico in Ponce, the AA Haiti Visiting School in Port-au-Prince and the Universidad Nacional Pedro Henríquez Ureña in Santo Domingo.

He’s a member of the Dominican DoCoMoMo chapter, Fundación Palm Inc., ICOM, and he’s also part of the editorial board of the Santo Domingo-based magazine Arquitexto. He has co-edited several projects on the subject of modernism, such as “Architecture in the Path of the Sun: Understanding Dominican Modernity “ for the country’s participation in the 2014 Venice Biennale and co-authored the book/exhibition “Jaragua no cae” published by Centro León with a grant by Graham Foundation. He has also edited academic publications such as “Statu Quo Arquitectura Moderna Dominicana”, “Rastros de una Bauhaus Dominicana” and “Guillermo 120”.
